In 2017, she was honored with the prestigious “Military Citation” by the United States House of Representatives for her outstanding service to U.S. Veterans. As Director of the Episcopal Mission Society’s Services to Older People, Miriam directed the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, on Thanksgiving Day, in the South Bronx, in the basement of St. Paul’s Church, the home of South Bronx Services to Older People, and in East Midtown Manhattan at the Church of the Transfiguration, home of the East Midtown Services in Single Room Occupancy {S.R.O.}; frail elderly living in isolated hotel rooms. Miriam and her staff volunteered their time on Thanksgiving Day for many years to provide this valuable concrete and supportive service.
